Kites Etc. first opened as a shop focused on traction kites in 1986. The owner Steve Kent aka Salty Steve has been involved in kite flying ever since. Steve was a top kite-buggy rider in the U.S and designed his own model of kite-buggies. In 1999 when Kite boarding was first beginning, Steve Kent was on top of it. "I saw this as the first legitimate, viable sport to come to power kiting and I definitely wanted to be a part of it."

Steve is now designing and manufacturing paddles boards and carries one of the best selections on the west coast.
